I clicked on this picture in my messages, just expecting to see a nice photo. I was not only greeted with a wonderful photo, but also a story that went along with it. This story has moved me more than any other art has in a while. It's so personal.

The star of this work of art isn't the visual. It's what's behind the scenes; the story. Don't get me wrong, the photo is great. But without the story to go along with it, it's just a faded photo of some crappy old shack.

Reading the story deeply moved me. My life hasn't been at it's peak lately- I'm struggling with heartbreak, transferring to a school where I know almost no one, and moving (and we've had plenty of issues trying to move). I really connected with this piece. So many times in the midst of all this, and things in the past, I have wanted to run away from it all and hide. Whenever my head hits the pillow I know I can finally relax, because for the time being, I know that nothing else is (most likely) going to happen; the world is asleep.

I feel that art's finest moments are not when you see an artwork that looks cool, but when you can really connect to it. I know I use art as a way of getting through life's day to day struggles, through music, movies, and TV shows. However, rarely do I find a piece of visual art that I can use to help get through all the crap that is thrown at us. But Alexandra has managed to create art that does just that- help me cope and push through life's struggles.

The visual part of the art tells the story very well. The way the color is faded on the left, to me, represents all of life's struggles being "zoned out". All the overgrowth on the shack shows how even when you try to run and hide from all the crap going on, it never quite leaves. It's still there, like a weed. Lastly, the house represents where/when you go to hide from everything. Of course, this is only my interpretation of the visual!

The photo is of very high quality! It's crystal clear, and it's images are woven together seamlessly. The way the color is faded on the left isn't over done, and transitions to full color very well. Overall, this is a technically fantastic photo.

It's been quite a while since I've been able to connect to a piece of art so deeply. Alexandra, I thank you for sharing this with us here on deviantART. We have so many fantastic artists here on dA, but I believe you are at the peak of dA artists. Very, very well done.
